WASHINGTON, DC — ConservAmerica President Jeff Kupfer applauded the Senate for passing the bipartisan Great American Outdoors Act with two-thirds of the chamber voting for the landmark conservation bill.

The bill fully and permanently funds the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), as well as addresses the nearly $20 billion maintenance backlog at our national parks and on other federal lands. The Great American Outdoors Act was introduced in March by Sens. Cory Gardner (R-CO) and Joe Manchin (D-WV), and has the support of more than 800 conservation groups, including ConservAmerica.

“This is a huge win,” said Kupfer. “The improvements in our national parks and other public lands will provide great benefits to the American people — and it is especially timely now. We applaud the leadership of Senators Gardner, Manchin, and Daines, and we are thrilled with the overwhelming bipartisan support in the Senate.”

As President Trump has already promised to sign it, ConservAmerica looks forward to a swift passage through to House to the president’s desk.
